Estimated price: Rs 7lakh
The Nissan Micra is an important car for Nissan in India and the company has a lot resting on the success of the Micra. Nissan India have gone to great lengths by doing a lot of marketing activity in shopping malls and key consumer touchpoints to promote not just the upcoming Micra, but to also spread awareness and visibility of the Nissan brand. They have also managed to cross over a thousand bookings for the Nissan Micra last week and since Nissan India started production of the Micra in May earlier this year at their swanky facility in Chennai, they should be able to cope with the initial demand spike and deliver the cars quickly.

Now, Nissan will launch the Sunny by the end if the year. The Nissan Sunny should be available with a diesel engine from the Renault stable, the same engine that was used on Logan.

Estimated price: Rs 4-5 lakh
In country like India, the automobile market is dominated by hatchbacks. Here most of the auto giants who wish to set a firm base in India, are focusing on small car market. Honda tried the same thing with the Jazz, but the expensive price tag didn't work in it's favour. So, Honda now plans to launch a small car for the Indian car market.

Honda had unveiled its small car concept the 2010 Auto Expo, and the company plans to launch this small car in India somewhere around in early 2011. This new small car will be smaller than four metres in length and will get Honda Jazz's 1.2-litre petrol engine to avail the duty cut.

Engine: 1.2-litre petrol
GZ AUTO'S Words: The Jazz doesn't sell in large numbers because of its price tag, this should sell in larger numbers.

Estimated price: Rs 8-10 lakhs
At the Skoda Fabia launch, Mr. Thomas Kuehl had made the announcement that Skoda has increased the local content on the Fabia to a total of 40% and now the company aims to make a completely localized car. The company has began work on it and they are designing a car specifically for the Indian car market.

For the time being, the code name for the new sedan is Rapid. The Rapid will be based on the Fabia platform and will be competition to the Volkswagen Vento, its distinct cousin, the Honda City, the Fiat Linea and the Hyundai Verna. Our sources confirm that this car will be launched somewhere around September-October 2011.

We believe the Rapid will get the 1.6-litre petrol mill from the Volkswagen engine stable, and probably even the 1.6-litre TD CR engine recently introduced on the VW Vento. There have been rumours about a new Skoda Octavia being designed for the Indian car market. It isn’t the Octavia, it’s this all new sedan which is being designed for India. Watch out this space for more updates on the new Skoda sedan.

Engine: 1.6-litre petrol and diesel
GZ AUTO's Words: This car would help Skoda to increase it's market share.

Sedan

Hatch Back
Ford Fiesta
Expected in September 2011
Estimated price: Rs 6.5-9lakh
The Ford Fiesta has been around for a while and now it seems have been ageing rapidly as many new competitors are coming with more frills than that are offered on the Fiesta. Ford had introduced the sports version of the Fiesta which is the 1.6S. The 1.6S has undergone changes in its underpinning settings for better handling and of course some other cosmetic changes.

The new Fiesta’s design has the Ford’s new Kinetic Design theme and can be expected in India by the end of 2011. The new Fiesta could even come with an option of POWERSHIFT transmission (this is a dual-clutch automatic transmission) which is just like the Volkswagen’s DSG. With most of its competition – Honda City and the Volkswagen Vento, the POWERSHIFT Fiesta could cause some issues.

After the success of the Ford Figo, Ford will now be aiming to makes it hold firm by launching the new Fiesta in this segment.  The Ford Motor company is most likely to continue with its same 1.4-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engine. These mills churn out enough power to compete with most of the competition.
Specs (Speculated)
Engine: 1.6-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engine
GZ Auto's Words: This sedan help the Ford gain some more foothold.
